Air Liquide expands its development in the Middle East and announced a total investment of 60 million euros in new production facilities in the field of industrial gases.
In Egypt, in Sadate City industrial area, midway between Cairo and Alexandria, the group Air Liquide has signed a new long-term contract with EZZ steel plant to supply gaseous oxygen. A unit of production capacity of 110 tons per day oxygen gas will be put into operation in late 2011 and will allow the customer to increase the production of long steel products.
In Qatar, Air Liquide Group, through its subsidiary GASAL, signed a long term contract with Qatar Steel. In this context, a new oxygen production unit will add two units to existing unit to be put into operation in the first quarter of 2012. The total capacity of the site will be 650 tonnes of oxygen per day, due to operation of the new units.
On the other hand, Air Liquide Group started its activities in Syria, with a first unit for oxygen production capacity of 200 tons per day. Dedicated to Medsteel steel producers, the new unit was recently put into operation in the new industrial city of Adra in close by Damascus, the Syrian capital.
Producing, equally, nitrogen and argon in liquid, this unit will contribute to supply industrial gases market in the entire Levant region.
