Solyndra announced that it has received ISO 9001:2008 certification from TUV Rheinland.

This internationally recognized standard provides a set of requirements that must exist in a certain place to have a quality management system, regardless of organization size, product or service line, public or private status.

"To meet strong product demand we are ramping our Fab 2 facility, and this certification recognizes the strength of the processes and procedures that we have put in place to ensure the highest levels of quality as we rapidly scale our business", said Ben Bierman, Solyndra's executive vice president of operations and engineering.

"Obtaining ISO certification demonstrates our commitment to continuous improvement and delivering the highest levels of service and product quality to our customers around the world".

Acquiring ISO 9001:2008 certification is voluntary, but organizations must go through a rigorous audit process by an authorized third party organization.
