Daikin McQuay launched the Pathfinder(TM) air-cooled chiller with a variable frequency drive (VFD) option on high and premium efficiency models. The Pathfinder’s new VFD option makes it the industry-leading model for part load efficiency and the quietest published performance, providing building owners optimum operating costs and comfort throughout the life of the chiller.

The chiller unit has capacities from 175 to 530 tons, and three levels of operating efficiency: Standard, High and Premium. With the Daikin McQuay Pathfinder chiller building owners are able to specify an HVAC system that exactly meets their requirements. According to McQuay, the Standard efficiency model meets ASHRAE 90.1 energy requirements, while the High and Premium models have best-in-class efficiency. The High and Premium efficiency models register impressive cost savings due to the optional VFD, with up to 19.4 EER IPLV for the Premium efficiency unit.
Sound pressure levels are reduced by 6dBA compared to previous models, and the Pathfinder chiller also features sound pressure levels as low as 65 dBA, with no attenuation. It is an excellent choice for sound-sensitive environments such as schools, churches and other facilities located in residential neighborhoods due to its quiet operation.
The chiller's small unit footprint can accommodate existing structures such as installation pad, walls and fences and is ideal for retrofit projects. A service person could stand up comfortably in the interior of the unit. Components serviced most commonly are easy to access, key components are located on the unit's periphery.
The R-134a refrigerant with no ozone depletion potential and no phase-out schedule keeps the Pathfinder chiller into the Daikin and McQuay legacy of environmental responsibility. The chiller helps owners qualify for LEED® Green Building Rating System certification through optimizing energy efficiency and enhanced refrigerant management.
All Pathfinder chillers installed in North America are D-Net(TM) Remote Service capable, allowing McQuay Factory Service to support the chillers remotely to keep them running efficiently and reliably.
