Arkema, one of the biggest global manufacturers of fluorochemicals, carries on its program of large investments in both advanced refrigerant technology and expansion of its worldwide operations.
The company will continue to develop projects aimed to meeting the present and future demands of the refrigerant sector. Arkema will respond to the short-term requirements of the refrigerant market by making use of HCFC-22 alternatives, reclaim services, and the full range of refrigerant systems. For longer-term demands, Arkema will invest in HFC manufacturing capacity and low GWP product development.
According to an official announcement of the company, Arkema has extended its HFC refrigerant range to the HVAC & R industry with improved offers for retrofitting R-22 systems using Forane427A and Forane407A refrigerant.
Besides, Arkema has invested in production capabilities for all four core HFC components (R-32, R-125, R-134a, R-143a), which may be mixed to produce all the major HFC blends used in HVACR. Within the frame of its investment, Arkema is inaugurating its HFC-125 refrigerant manufacturing facility located at the giant Changshu, China factory, Asia’s largest of its kind.
Arkema will continue to be involved in the development of state-of-the-art fluorochemicals in order to further reduce greenhouse gas emissions. As part of this project, Arkema has disclosed plans to manufacture R-1234yf on an industrial scale. Featuring negligible GWP, R-1234yf is a perfect replacement for HFC-134a in automobile air-conditioning systems. Besides this investment, Arkema has taken further steps for the development of low GWP products to replace those with higher GWP in all refrigerant industry.
