Pall Corporation new filter plates provide superior consistency in critical diagnostic sample preparation applications.

Pall Corporation presented its next generation 96-well filter plate that delivers consistency and reproducibility in applications, such as neonatal screening and multiplexing. Pall Corporation is a filtration, separation and purification leader providing Total Fluid ManagementSM solutions to meet the critical needs of customers in biopharmaceutical, hospital and transfusion medicine, energy and alternative energy, electronics, municipal and industrial water, aerospace, transportation and broad industrial markets.

The Pall AcroPrep Advance filter plate uses new design features that provide uniform filtration rates, lowers hold-up volumes and ensures consistent sample/bead recovery from the wells.

The new AcroPrep filter plates are suitable for the most stringent sample preparation requirements. At the same time they achieve lowering the expenses associated with sample loss and contamination. New design features translate into superior performance over competitive plates. The  membrane sealing technology was redesigned to maximize sample recovery and ensure even filtration rates well to well. The optimized outlet tip design minimizes weeping during incubations as well as the formation of post-filtration hanging drops. The biologically inert housing of the plates facilitates low non-specific binding of target analytes, maximizing sample recovery.

Emily Berlin, Senior Marketing Manager at Pall Life Sciences said: “The AcroPrep Advance filter plates have been developed to address the needs of key diagnostic assays. These plates have been optimized to ensure superior performance where consistency and reproducibility are critical. Our new plate line offers advanced performance from well-to-well, plate-to-plate and lot-to-lot.”

The design for the new well was engineered to minimize sample hold-up, which significantly improves filtration rates and sample recovery to ensure assay reproducibility. The new AcroPrep plates reduce weeping, which is a common problem during incubation periods or after multiple filter-wash-incubation steps.

The AcroPrep Advance filter plates were designed to meet SBS/ANSI guidelines for manual, semi-automated and automated processing. Pall’s product portfolio includes other plates used for general filtration, lysate clarification, nucleic acid and protein purification applications.
