Vattenfall said it had completed work on the Thanet offshore wind park, located off the coast of British Kent in southeast England, considered the largest offshore installation in the world today.

With 100 turbines, Thanet offshore wind park have a total installed capacity of 300 MW, which corresponds to the annual needs in electricity of more than 200,000 homes.

The plant, which cost 750 million pounds (895 million euros ),is in final testing phase, the operator is known Swedish company Vattenfall.

Wind farms are located in water depths of between 20 and 25 meters and cover an area of 35 square kilometers. Each turbine reaches 115 meters, with a minimum base of 22 meters above sea level.

Distance between windfarms is about 500 meters along the line and 800 feet between rows.
The nearest turbine is located 12 km northwest of Foreness Point.

Currently, this is the greatest achievement in offshore wind world up to a future project and more importantly, this time located in London, who will depose.
London Array project with a capacity of 1000 MW (340 turbines) will be the next step.

According to Vattenfall, "Thanet offshore wind park is a huge investment in wind energy for society".

Site Inauguration takes place on September 23, the the presence of company chairman and CEO of Vattenfall, Oystein Loseth, British Secretary of State for Energy and climate change, Chris Huhn and others.
