Vestas will deliver 140 wind turbines V112-3.0 MW for AGL Energy Ltd and Meridian Macarthur a 420 MW wind farm in Australia.
Vestas and Leighton Contractors will install MacArthur wind Park. Contract provides full engineering services, procurement and construction contract (EPC) and a 10-year service contract and VestasOnline ® Business SCADA solution.
Wind turbines will arrive on site in Q3 2011, full completion of the project is expected in the first half of 2013.
The wind farm could benefit from the Australian Parliament's 20% Renewable Energy Target (RET), voted this year.
Sean Sutton, President of Vestas Asia Pacific, says: “This project represents the largest single order for Vestas Australia and Asia Pacific and is also the largest wind power project to be announced after the establishment of Australia's renewable energy targets earlier this year. The new V112-3.0 MW is a perfect solution to meet AGL and Meridian's needs for a highly-productive and cost-effective turbine for the medium wind speeds on the project site".
