New wind turbines totaling 333 MW - more than half of the 577 MW installed offshore last year - this shows a strong growing, in offshore wind, despite the financial crisis.

EWEA says that another 151 offshore wind turbines totaling 440 MW have been installed but not yet connected to the grid.

16 offshore wind farms totaling 3972 MW were under construction. Of these, four have become fully operational Poseidon in Denmark, Alpha Ventus in Germany, Gunfleet Sands and Robin Rigg in the UK.

Currently in Europe there are 948 offshore wind turbines in 43 wind farms fully operational, totaling 2396 MW.
